How The Chevy Corvette Got It's Name

Ever wonder how the Corvette got it's name? In 1953 Chevrolet had a sports car in the development stage and wanted to give it a name that began with a "C". They called a special executives meeting and a review of 300 suggested names began, but none made the cut. That night Myron E. "Scottie" Scott, hired in 1937 as an assistant director for the Public Relations department went home, picked up the dictionary and began searching the C section. He came across the name "corvette" Definition meaning - "a speedy pursuit ship in the British navy". The next day Scott suggested the name, and the group loved it. The rest is history. Myron Scott retired  from Chevrolet in 1971, and was inducted into the National Corvette Museum hall of fame.
